Is this really a cruise?
Sorry, but no. Some shows will take place on boats that will ship through the harbor and the Elbe river while the bands are playing. But the majority of shows will take place in small venues close to the waterfront. Think of THE FEST, POUZZA FEST, OBENUSE FEST or MANCHESTER PUNK FEST, but with some additional boat rides.
Do you sell day tickets?
Weekend passes, day tickets, two day passes, I hope you’ll find what you need.
As usual the ticket categories are named after islands. Still not funny.
When and how can I get tickets?
Our sale starts on Sunday, 25th Feb. The tickets are available through our online store only.
Why have the ticket prices changed compared to last year?
The ticket prices have increased because our costs are much higher this year. There will be 66 bands playing instead of 25, we rented several boats and venues and we will improve the festival where possible compared to last year. We hope you can trust us on this, BOOZE CRUISE is a fully independent and small festival and we can’t compete on ticket prices with some bigger festivals.
Will there be an app?
Yes, we will use the clashfinder app, available for all mobile devices.
What happens if a venue is at capacity when the band I want to watch is playing?
You have bought a ticket for the BOOZE CRUISE festival, not for an individual band show and as such we cannot guarantee admission for any band. We will continue to do everything we can that this is rarely a problem, however to guarantee admission for your favorite band we suggest that you arrive at the relevant venue well in advance of the stage time, particularly for bands who are likely to have big crowds.
Also some “bigger bands” will play twice.
Where can I pick up my wristband?
There will be a pop-up record store, where you can exchange your ticket for a wristband. Also merch and records can be bought there. The address will be announced asap.
Who did the designs?
Angga did the main visual. Cool guy from Jakarta who would love to design your band’s merch and is totally into getting briefings like „a female skeleton, an orca and an avocado hanging out in a pineapple shaped pool“.
Check him out on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anggadwi/
Where can I go after the bands finish?
There will be an aftershow party at the Hafenklang on Friday night. But you should also check out Gun Club, Komet, Washington Bar and Menschenzoo after the bands are finished. Or join ARTERIALS and IRISH HANDCUFFS for a visit at a local karaoke bar.
Where can I drink?
You can drink in all the venues (if you’re of age (German law: 16 = beer and wine, 18+ = you’re fine)), this festival is called BOOZE CRUISE. Dammit!
For all you non-Germans: You can drink literally everywhere but on public transportation.
Oh, and we don’t have curfews…
Food, what about food?
Check back in a couple of weeks for the “carbs” section on our website. There are plenty of options near most of the venues. We will try to get a (vegan) food truck in front of those venues, that aren’t close to any greasy junk food joints.
I am from out of town, where can I take a nap?
Check the “beds” section, as soon as the ticket sale starts we will recommend several ho(s)tels, some offer special Booze Cruise deals.
If you wanna sleep in your RV or van, there is a parking lot at St Pauli Hafenstraße 89, where lots of RVs could park. Right next to the river, pretty sweet spot.
There is no camping ground near by that I know of.
How accessible are the venues?
We are aware that some of these venues do not provide full accessibility, especially for those people who may struggle to use stairs.
To enquire about a discounted ticket, or if you have any questions about access at any of the venues, please email ahoi (A) boozecruise.de
My favorite bands are clashing, can you fix it?
We’re sorry your favorite bands are clashing. But with 60+ bands on, some have to overlap. We’ve really worked our hardest to ensure that clashes are at a minimum, pick who you’ve seen the least and go with that!
Can I have a pass to review or photograph BOOZE CRUISE festival?
Please email ahoi (A) boozecruise.de to apply.
How to get from one location to the other?
All locations are in walking distance. 10-15 min max, I’d say. Hafenklang to Gun Club is probably the longest walk, maybe comparable to a HighDive to 1982 kinda walk.
If you don’t feel like walking, get a taxi. UBER is not available in Germany, if you still try to book a lift via the app, a regular taxi will pick you up. You will check, if that’s true, don’t you!?
How could I volunteer for BOOZE CRUISE 2018?
Volunteers are always needed to help run our festival, thanks for asking!
You could help with anything from working in our pop-up record store, checking wristbands at the doors, preparing pine apples or being location host.
If you would like to stay in the loop, please email to: ahoi (A) boozecruise.de
Can my band play?
No, we don’t have a single open slot left this year, sorry.
And generally speaking this is not really a festival rather a boozy gathering with all our friends and bands we met in the past through that fanzine we publish every now and then.
So if we haven’t met in person, get yourself a Booze Cruise ticket, enjoy the weekend and say hi, maybe your band can play in 2019, who knows. This, plus your band gets compared to any NO IDEA, JADETREE or LOOKOUT Records band quite often, that might also help to get you on the boat next year.
No No No’s: Ska, any type of music ending with the syllable „-billy“, anything with bagpipes, shitty metal, THE SEX ATTACKS sort of band names.
How do I become a BOOZE CRUISE sponsor or take out an ad in your guidebook?
For sponsorship/guidebook ad inquires email Stefan via ahoi (A) boozecruise.de
Can I bring my distro?
Sorry, no, there is hardly any room in the venues and we will have a pop-up record store.
We’d love to carry some of your releases in our store though.
